I am starting to blog on Maniac Magee. It starts with a kid named Jeffery Magee being orphaned by a trolly that fell over the side of the tracks because the driver was a little bit over the side himself.
Although he loves them, he dislikes his uncle and aunt. They hate each other but won't get a divorce because they are strict Catholics. Jeffery runs away and ends up in the city of Two Mills. This city is divided in to East End (where blacks live) and West End (where whites live). He first sleeps in the deer pin at the zoo in Two Mills. He soon gets hungry and scrawny, so he goes into Two Mills looking for some food. He doesn't find food, but he does meet a black girl named Amanda Beale that is particularly touchy about her books. Even with that factor, she feels sorry for him and lets him borrow her "A" Encyclopedia. He brings her book back to her the next day. She finds out that he is trustworthy and he comes over to her house. When her father is driving him "home," the Beales find out he doesn't have one and let him stay at their house. When Amanda's younger siblings find out he has slept over, they start to play with him yet again. Later that night, they won't take a bath unless he gets in with them. He accepts their proposition and gets in. One night, whenthey get out, Maniac is having an allergic reaction... to pizza! I can think of nothing more at the time.
i think he struggled for a couple of days,then eventually got the same routine in order.i think he is running because he doesn't know what to do and what he wants to become,he is blind to alot of things.he's major blindness is dislikeness between mars bar and the word bad.his benifit is to start a new life with a different family and be given another name.
